Today, my wee one is 5 months old!
I can’t believe how quickly things have gone. And I have the feeling I’ll be saying that over, and over, and over again.
She’s still making progress, but it seems her growth spurts physically have slowed down. She’s still in size 2 diapers and they seem to be fitting just fine. She doesn’t have nearly as many poopy blow outs, but every once in a while she has one. I wouldn’t be surprised if she moves up into size 3 in the next month or so though. Got a box just in case.
She had a few bad evenings last week with attempting to go to bed, and we’ve pushed her “bedtime” a bit later since her 8pm thing seemed to go out the window. Figured she wasn’t as tired as early and shouldn’t push it or try to force her to go to sleep. She does have a tendency still to fight sleep, whether it be a nap or it be bedtime. Finding the right combination of things to get her to fall asleep is certainly interesting. She’s had some better night lately which is nice. I can’t say the same for me, however. But I’m muscling through. 🙂
She is sleeping a bit more between feedings again, the past few nights she hasn’t been waking up until after 1am. So, going to sleep between 9pm and 10pm puts her at an average of 3-5 hours before needing to go get her from the crib. She has even been sleeping longer between her middle of the night feeding and the feeding around 5am. I am hoping this particular pattern becomes habit for a little while. It was nice when it was happening before, so it’ll be nice to see it happen again. For all our sakes.
We purchased a Baby Einstein bouncer, which she seems to like well enough, but she’s a bit small in it. My friend puts blankets under hers (our babies are a day apart) so I put a few under ours and we’ll have to see how well that goes over, giving her something to actually stand on and maybe a little more stability. At least I know this thing should last us a while in terms of her physical growth.
We’ve been using the high-chair for food testing, which has been amusing, interesting and certainly fun for all of us. She definitely likes sitting up, but still can’t do it on her own. With propping and help, she certainly seems to prefer as much as possible to be up. We tested out her sitting in a high chair at a restaurant the other day, which went well for a little while. We also tried sitting her up in the cart the day after, which went really well, thankfully because the strap went under her arms and kept her from toppling from side to side. She seemed to have a lot of fun with that, but by the time we got into line to check out, she wanted to be held.
Definitely going to keep the cover to go in the high chair/shopping cart seat in the car now.
