Thankful for… Day 16 2013

November 16, 2013

I’m thankful for celebrating Thanksgiving early while the guys are still in port.  I’m thankful for the huge heart my husband has and his invitation nearly every year we’ve been able to cook for Thanksgiving to the single sailors and/or everyone in his division.  He loves, no really….LOVES to host and cook for lots and lots of people.  It’s his happy place.

I’m thankful for being able to finally celebrate something with friends in this house WITH MY HUSBAND.  Last year it was just James, Zoe and I.  We didn’t even do Turkey.  (Not that I’m complaining.  We did Cornish hens.  They were delicious.) The year before that, I did get to have my sister Shaun and her friend Angela and Angela’s parents.  I think their guys were here too.  That was very nice, at least I wasn’t alone.

Until very recently, I thought this was going to be the very last Thanksgiving in this house before we moved.  That however has changed, but I do believe we’ll be moving shortly before Halloween or Thanksgiving next year instead of in the spring.  Hey, it’s still technically the last Thanksgiving here, so I’m glad that we’re hosting it.  It feels like we don’t have enough memories like this here compared to the amount of hosting we did back in Charleston.  You had best believe that we’re going to be doing a lot of hosting when we get back to Charleston!

I’m also thankful for hosting here, because it throws me into high gear and gets me clearing things out of the house!  😀  A lot of my sanity at times rests on just how clean and organized the house is.  Hopefully I can keep things looking like this for a while so that I can focus on the bigger projects that kept getting left because of all the daily stuff.
